SUMMARY: LSM question: Shrinkg /var and enlarging /usr in a mirrored rootdg group

I had asked:

How would one ( I ) "shrink" the space allocated to the /var partition, and
"expand" the space allocated to /usr?

I would like not to do a vdump, repartition, rebuild LSM, vrestore, etc.

It seems to me that the volassist shrinkby command would not work here.

Does anyone have any better suggestions??

Thanks to the following, whose comments I have taken the liberty of combining

Unfortunately there is no easy way to do what I would like to do. The
consensus of opinions was that I would have to
vdump (or perhaps make a large tar archive) to save the data. Then, find
additional disk space perhaps by adding a disk, incorporate this into the
LSM mirror structure, use the addvol command to incorporate into the advfs
structure, make sure that the fdmns and fsets are correct then vrestore the
data.

It may be easier to just move some things from /usr to /var and make sure
the links are done right.

As a side comment, my boss fondly tells me about when he only had DECtapes
and RK05 disks and how wonderful things are with the large disks of today.
Well, I think what is stored still expands to fill the available space.
