Hello fellow True64 UNIX Managers,
We have a scratch disk made up of three devices in an ADVFS volume. While
searching through the disk for files to be deleted I found an interesting
problem with a file named "cor_17". The results of 'ls', 'showfile' and
'find' are reported below:
-- cut --
# ls -al | more
./cor_17 not found
total 1218900
drwxr-xr-x 2 aac24 system 8192 Feb 23 04:45 ./
drwxr-xr-x 4 aac24 system 8192 Feb 6 19:26 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 aac24 system 692519370 Feb 22 11:18 0-9.cor
-rw-r--r-- 1 aac24 system 484763559 Feb 22 11:27 10-16.cor
-rw-r--r-- 1 aac24 system 6380 Feb 22 11:32 1p10.avs
-rw-r--r-- 1 aac24 system 2950 Feb 22 11:32 1p10.dat
-rw-r--r-- 1 aac24 system 1457 Feb 22 11:31 1p10.hexag
-rw-r--r-- 1 aac24 system 2948 Feb 22 13:42 cor.geom
# showfile -x ./cor_17
Id Vol PgSz Pages XtntType Segs SegSz I/O Perf File
showfile: lstat failed for file './cor_17'; Invalid argument
# find . -print
.
./1p10.hexag
./1p10.avs
./1p10.dat
./cor.geom
./10-16.cor
./0-9.cor
find: ./cor_17 : Invalid argument
-- cut --
Why foes 'find' and 'showfile' report "Invalid argument"? In addition,
DECevent reports server "cdisk_rec_status" error reports for the devices
making up the ADVFS volume.
As the problematic file reside on a ADVFS volume I will run 'verify' on
the volume. However, since the ADVFS volume is part of a server and
there is also a finite probability running 'verify' might crash the server
I will perform this later.
In the meantime, I would welcome any help or thoughts as to what was the
causes the problem and how it can be resolved.
Regards,
Rich
