I guess I should have been more specific. I have no problem doing levels
1-9 dumps on these 4mm, 120m tapes (not 112) but the epochs just kill the
thing. if I try it with no parameters (ie: dump 0uf /dev/nrmt0h /usr) or
even with c for not a 9track, dump happily goes along for a while then
gives me this:
dump: 34.21% done -- finished in 05:47
dump: Check if tape is write protected.
dump: Write error -- wanted to write: 10240, only wrote: -1
slave_work(): write(): I/O error
dump: Write error - /dev/nrmt0h, volume 1, 3452 feet -- cannot recover
now this 10240 reminds me of the man page which says that the default
block size is 10kb. but when I've tried to set b to 64 ( and no other
parameters changed), I get something like wanted to write: 65534, only
wrote: -1.
any ideas? I would really like to get these backups working. with shorter
tapes, I did not have this problem
thanks
