Hi All,
I too am very interested in the possible speed gains/losses
achievable by switching to EV6 (See: xp1000 slower than 500au).
Does anyone know of any DEQ 'white papers' on the EV6 cpu?
It does seem to me that in order to utilise its two separate integer
and floating-point units, a recompilation is the very least that's
required, and with a rather smart compiler as well since this
cpu would seem to require code massaged for parallel-processing
for maximum benefit.
Has anyone done any benchmarks on real applications?
How does the EV6-compiled code go when its run on an EV5 machine,
or do we have to maintain separate .EXE's?
And how well do (will) the gnu compilers do at exploiting the EV6?
Cheers,
Terry.
