Hi,
I have a DEC Unix workstation running v4.0d of the operating
system and CDE.
I have worked literally hours with DEC/Compaq on the phone
to try to find a solution to this problem. I am really
frustrated because it is a low priority problem, but the
user demands attention.
When the user starts dtmail, it hangs. We have tried numerous
things like recreating his mail file, setting MAILLOCKING="4"
in the rc.config and setting set cdenotooltalklock='f' in the
user's .mailrc. Network file locking has been turned off inside
dtmail. All of the recent CDE related patches have been
installed.
We copied his mailbox to a local file system and
set his MAIL variable to point to the local folder
and it works fine. When the MAIL variable points
back to nfs mounted /var/spool/mail/$USER it hangs.
The mail directory is mounted NFS from a server and
other mailers such as Netscape work fine. It's just
dtmail that hangs.
Any suggestions on how to fix dtmail would be greatly
appreciated.
thanks,
bob
