Well, interesting answers, but basically nothing to worry about relative
to causing major problems in the OS. Please note the contributors
statements below. Thanks to everyone for their contributions.

We had to do this last month, as it happens.

It looks like you might be running too many files for the BMT to
be able to easily handle. The solution involves deleting the
existing domain and recreating it with "mkfdmn -x" or "-p".

bf probably stands for bitmap file (which is what the BMT is, I
guess).

Welcome to the world of AdvFS root file systems and AdvFS's quota
handling.
Even though you don't have quotas enabled on your root file system, AdvFS
insists on checking them for you, and when it finds inconsistencies (as it
almost always does eventually), it insists on reporting them. "bf" is the
AdvFS bitmap file, I believe, but it's not particularly important, what
you
see is a side effect of using AdvFS for the root file system.

I personally NEVER encourage anyone to use AdvFS for the root file system,
and it's arguable whether it has any real advantages for the /usr file
system
either.

I get the same messages on every bootup and I don't even run quotas for my
ADVFS file systems.

I called compaq unix support and they said that the quota message may be
generated even if you don't run quotas and there was really nothing I
could
do to suppress it. I am on 4.0b patch kit 8. They said that it would
probably disappear when I upgraded. Since you are on 4.0d and still
getting
them, may 4.0e will get rid of the messages.

To summarize:
I have had the messages for almost a year, but have never had any problem
attributable to them.
