Managers,
We are running 4.0BPK8 on multiple 4100s, 2100s and some miscellaneous
AlphaStations. On two systems, a 4100 and a 3000, we are running LPS
5.2. The 3000 is our LPS backup.
We are experiencing an odd problem with some of our LPS17 and LPS32
printers not being able to boot from our production 4100 system.
Through tcpdump, we can see the broadcast from a powered-up printer.
However, there is no response from the 4100, even though the lpsad
daemons are running, with "-f -u" options. This appears to be of
recent origin, we believe that all was well until recently, but the
system (and printers as well) have gone down so rarely we're not
sure.
Out of curiosity, we fired up LPS on the 3000, and it never fails to
boot any of the printers in question. We've looked for configuration
differences, but haven't turned anything up. We've deinstalled and
reinstalled LPS printers on the 4100, compared printcap and lpsodb
entries, and don't see any differences.
Does anyone have any suggestions where we might narrow our search for
configuration (or other) differences?
Thanks,
Michael
