4100 Parallel Port

Hi,

We've recently acquired an Alpha 4100 Server. I've installed DU4.0E on it and
moved some of our database from a 1000 to this new server. I also wanted to
move a line printer (Okidata) from the 1000. However, as soon as I plug the
printer to the parallel port, the printer freezes. I lose the ability to put
it online, take it offline, form feed, line feed, etc.

Executing "lpc status" reports the following:
parallel:
printer is on device '/dev/lp0' speed -1
        queing is enabled
        printing is enabled
        2 entries in spool area
Wed Mar 24 09:58:02 1999: waiting for lp to become ready (offline ?)

I'm pretty confident my printcap file is properly configured as I grabbed it
directy from the Alpha 1000 the printer was working on.

What is going on with the parallel port?

Thanks in advance,
Bill Antoniadis
