Dear Manager,
Original Question:
=================
I am trying to install video conferencing softwares (vat, vic, sdr, 'audio file
- AF' server, jvdriver etc) on a DEC AlphaStation 200 (PCI bus) with AV321
video controller and running on DU4.0d.
I have installed the mme sub set 'MMERT242' & MSB on the system and verify that
the installation was successful.
I have searched through the video conferencing site and found that, video
software like 'vic' only supports DEC TurboChannel machine but there is no
reference whether it supports PCI bus architecture.
I wonder if anyone managed to install video conferencing software on a DEC
AlphaStation 200 (PCI bus) and which video/audio driver to use.
Summary
=======
Thanks to 'Bert.Deknuydt_at_esat.kuleuven.ac.be' for his assistant in setting the
VIC for video conferencing system on AlphaStation 200 system.
The Video conferencing software (VAT, VIC etc) will work on either DEC
TurboChannel or PCI bus architecture.
For PCI bus architecture (AlphaStation 200), it will require the MME subset
installed and 'mmeserver' is running and VIC must compile with 'grabber-mme.o'
object file. The MME subset is on 'Digital Unix Software Product Library CD -
October 1998'.
Bert has put a copy of the VIC binary & source files on:
ftp://ftp.esat.kuleuven.ac.be/pub/psi/visics/deknuydt/vic.gz (1.3 M)
and
ftp://ftp.esat.kuleuven.ac.be/pub/psi/visics/deknuydt/vicsrc-2.8.tar.gz (600 k)
I also found a copy of VIC binary (October 1996) which works on AlphaStation
200 on 'Digital Unix Freeware Executables CD - December 1997'
The VIC source files can be downloaded from '
http://www.video.ja.net/mice/'.
The binary on this site is normally complied with J300 device driver and is
only useful for system with J300 video controller.
I have difficulty in compiling the VIC source with DEC 'CXX' compiler.
I am getting the following error when compiling VIC using 'CXX' :
"cxx:Error:iohandler.cc:line135:argument of type "ClientData" is incompatible
with parameter of type "int"
Tk_CreateFileHandler((ClientData)fd, mask, callback, (ClientData)this)
----------------------^
If anyone managed to compile VIC using the 'CXX', please let me know.
I am using DU4.0d, AV321 video controller, MMERT242 and AlphaStation 200.

Hello,
That's what the documentation might say, but VIC v2.7b4 uses plain MME, so
it does not even know about TurboChannel or PCI. And it works okay.
For sdr, you might need a fixed Tcl/Tk if I remember well.

I've done so. Not on an AS 200, but on several other AlphaStations w/ PCI.
Greetings,
Bert.
