Indiana contains five geographical time zones. Our data center is
located in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Indianapolis never leaves the
Eastern Standard time zone. When the rest of the nation goes to
daylight savings time we do not. Our clock's don't spring forward
and they don't fall. This means Indianapolis observes Chicago time in
the summer and New York city time in the winter.
We want to time synchronize our servers using NTP. Can anyone explain
the provisions NTP makes for Indianapolis like time zones. The
external servers we select may observer daylight savings time but we
will not. Does this represent a problem? How can we keep our clocks
from accidentally moving to and from daylight savings time twice a
year. I may not be very popular if this happens. Should I be
concerned?
