Hi,
I got one fast reply from torben.leifsen_at_astro.uio.no who said:
xdpyinfo -display :0.0 | grep Pseudo gives the following output:
class: PseudoColor
class: PseudoColor
(card set up with 8 bit depth. We mostly run these cards with 24 bit
depth)
So the card apparently has two simultaneous PseudoColor visuals.
Then I've asked him:
> Thanks for your reply. Looks as if this card has got two simultaneous
> PseudoColor visuals. What is your impression of the card? How is
> the video quality and speed when compared to others?
For 2D purposes it looks good. For 3D it's useless as no OpenGL is
implemented in hardware. The new PowerStorm 300/350 is probably the best
choice here.
For 2D/8-bit applications it seems like a good card. One user complained
about slow performance with 24-bit with backing-store and save-under
enabled. When we turned this off the performance was reasonable.
The video quality appears to be good.
All in all it seems to be a cheap way to get 24 bit 2D graphics at
1280x1024/75 Hz. It certainly has its limitations, but the price is low.
As I don't need 3D OpenGL and the xdpyinfo indicates that the card
supports two simultaneous PseudoColor visuals, I'll probably switch
to this card.
Thanks again to torben.leifsen_at_astro.uio.no for his reply.
Tom
