dear managers!
since yesterday we're having a strange error with our backup-system:
the nightly dumps of one of our machines (all running DU 4.0B, Patch 7)
fails with a strange error message which is reproducable by invoking
the dump programm from command line:
11:08|canetoad,0:/sbin>/sbin/dump.patch -3f /usr/local/archive/test.dump /tmp
dump: Dumping from host canetoad.mpib-berlin.mpg.de
dump: Date of this level 3 dump: Wed Mar 31 11:08:10 1999 MET DST
dump: Date of last level 0 dump: the start of the epoch
dump: Dumping /dev/rrz3e (/tmp) to /usr/local/archive/test.dump
dump: Mapping (Pass I) [regular files]
dump: Mapping (Pass II) [directories]
dump: Cannot get semaphores
get_semaphore(): semget() for slave_semid: No space left on device
dump: SIGTERM received
dump: The ENTIRE dump is aborted
dump: Cannot remove semaphores
remove_semaphore(): semctl() for slave: Invalid argument
dump: SIGTERM received
dump: The ENTIRE dump is aborted
so what's this semget-routine? and why isn't there any space left
(where? /usr/local/archive has about 1.5G free)
Nothing was changed on the system in the last two days & the other
machines do their dump properly - where shall I start looking ????
thanks,
torsten mohrbach
