Advice on HSZ70 RAID/AdvFS

I'm installing a 4100 with a BA370 attached with two HSZ70 controllers. I
have 12 9.1GB drives on two shelves currently (ids 0 and 1). I would like
to have one OS partition span all twelve drives using RAID5 for an Oracle
(SAP BW) database. I currently have the HSZ70s set such that controller 1
preferred id=0,2 and controller 2 perferred id=1,3 thereby splitting the two
shelves between two controllers.

My question is this: would it be best to create two RAID5 partitions, each
comprising an entire shelf of 6 drives, then create one AdvFS domain with
both partitions, or would it be better to have all 12 drives in one RAID5
array, and thus one AdvFS partition?

I'm not primarily concerned with performance, as this is a sandbox server,
I'm more concerned with not losing data (development work). If I have 12
drives in one RAID5 array, will it utilize both HSZ70s since the preferred
ids are set as they are? Would I do better to rearrange the drives
utilizing all four shelves?

Any insight would be much appreciated!
