Original Question:
>Do you know of any software available that will allow me to place quotas
>on users. I want to place restrictions on how many pages a user can
>print per day or per week. This restriction will include both text and
>postscript printing.

Thanks to the following people for their response.

Alan Davis
Dr. Thomas P. Blinn
Matt White
Simon Greaves

The basic response is that this option is not supported by the current
versions
of Digital Unix but may be available in future releases. There is also no
off the shelf software solution to this problem.

Some of the software options include PrintXchange and LPRng LPD
replacement and the CTI print filters. PrintXchange is supposed to
be the printing platform for Tru64 Unix v5.0.

Simon Greaves is using them for all his printing - LPRng provides some nice
features over stock LPD, and the CTI filters for it are great for printing
to PCL and Postscript printers (HP, Lexmark, etc).

>From what Dr. Thomas P. Blinn (Compaq) says V4.0F release, due out soon,
will have
new advanced printing software, though its use is optional and might include
some
extra features. This request has also been passed along to their product
managers
as something that they should consider for future implementation.

There may be third party print systems that do better.
