Hello,

We have a Digital Personal Workstation 433au which came with no graphics
adapter. The other 433au systems here have off the shelf Trio64V+ cards,
but unfortunately I cannot find a supplier for these rapidly aging graphics
cards (which raises interest concerns for long term maintenance). I obtained a
Trio64V2 card, which allows X at 640x480 8bpp, but no more as the chip isn't
recognised by bios or kernel.

I have been given a PowerStorm 3D20 card, which appears to be PBXGA-AA/AN (also
known as ZLXp-E1?). However no amount of tweaking can get anything at all to
appear on the monitor - not even the prom text. I'm using a standard VGA to
5-way BNC monitor cable, which worked fine for the trio card. With trepidation
I've tried adjusting the dip switches, but not to all 16 configurations. Any
information on the effects of these dip switches would be useful. I think
they're for changing resolution, but which setting is for which? (I looked in
the archives and can only find data on the ZLXp-E2 card.)

Finally, does anyone know of compatible cards to buy as an alternative to the
PowerStorm 3D30? I've had a quote of 357 UK Pounds (+tax), which seems
extortionate for a humble cirrus logic chipset, but it is rapidly looking like
the only workable solution.

Thanks in advance - I'll summarise in a day or two.

        James
