SUMMARY: Compaq SURVEY: use of V4.0 system adminstration applications

From: Paul Henderson <pgh_at_unx.dec.com>

The survey asked if the recipient used the Tru64 UNIX V4.0 system
administration applications, and, if so, how often.

I received 102 responses! 90 of the respondents noted that they use
one or more of the apps. Only 12 of the 102 responses stated that
they never use any. (Of those, four stated that they didn't even know
they existed. The remaining 8 stated they are hard-core UNIX
experts who only use the command line.)

Here are the results in order of most used to least used for the
90 system managers who stated that they use the apps:

Application Uses It Often Sometimes Infrequently

Kernel Tuner 78 24 35 19
Account Manager 72 31 25 16
System Information 66 20 25 21
License Manager 62 12 30 20
Process Tuner 40 8 21 11
Host Manager 32 5 11 16
Power Manager 31 1 10 20
Display Window 27 4 7 16
File Sharing 27 2 10 15
Shutdown 15 2 8 5
Archiver 11 1 4 6

Note that the frequency designation is often misleading. Some apps
lend themselves to be used infrequently, like Power Manager or File
Sharing which are mainly "set and forget" type applications.

Thank you all for your responses. This information is extremely
valuable to the UNIX Engineering group. Thanks especially to Dave Sill,
the "keeper" of this list, for clearing access to this list for these
valuable surveys.
