I have recently upgraded the system which serves as our main logger to
DU 4.0D. I was aware of the need for a syslog.auth file and had it
ready to go. All looked to be OK until this week when it was
discovered that some of our routers were not logging.
What I found was that only the first 95 entries in the syslog.auth
file were being accepted. By changing the order of the entries in the
file, I could cause a system which had not been logged to start, but
another system stopped.
FWIW, the file has 116 entries and is 1965 bytes long.
Has anyone else seen this? Is there a fix?
