All responses recommended installation of the patch kit 3 for DU 4.0D.
A scan of the kit seems to indicate that patch 283.02 should be the
one.
As this is a critical system, I need to schedule downtime for the
installation, so I can't confirm that it is fixed by the patch, but it
seems likely. It is also fixed in 4.0e.
