Perl and 4.0E

Has anyone been able to build perl (any current stable version) on 4.0E?
It consistently fails its op/pack selftest. Perls built under earlier
versions of tru64 pass all selftests on 4.0E, which leads me to suspect
that 4.0E introduced a compiler/library/include glitch.

I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks.
