Hello all!
We have a 2100 server (recently upgraded from DU4.0a to 4.0d and the Feb 8
patch kit) and a DLT tape drive attached. The backups have all been
working as scripted, until sometime around when the upgrade was completed.
What happens now, is that the backups will complete most of the time - the
remaining time, one filesystem or another will fail to backup and will emit
the following error:
vdump: unable to write to device </dev/nrmt0h>; [5] I/O error
vdump: unable to prompt input for retry on device; [25] not a typewriter
The tape was replaced (it was slated for replacement at the same time
anyway) with a new DLT7000, the cable was replaced, new device files
created, and the same problem persists. It's not always the same
filesystem which fails to backup, but there is a consistent group of 2-3
which will each fail from time to time. If one fails at some point during
the backup, the others will generally complete with no problems.
TIA for any help!
Cheers!
Jon
