Dear managers,
is there a way to restore isacfg -settings to factory defaults, when
isacfg -init does not help?
Problem:
A machine with an LX164 motherboard and DU4.0E lost its floppy, i.e. it
cannot access the floppy any more, not even from SRM console. In
addition, the machine switches itself off after about half an hour of
operation - without warnings of any kind! It just powers itself off and
there are no error messages anywhere.
I am pretty convinced, the machine is _not_ physically broken, since
the problems developed last week after the last crash due to a buggy
SCSI controller or its software drivers (KZPCM; dual UW-SCSI + 100Mbit
ethernet). It seems, that the ISA bridge has been messed up some way,
because everything but the floppy drive work normally (until the
machine powers down, of course).
Isacfg on the SRM console prompt also reports everything normally. All
embedded ISA devices are there (keyboard, mouse, floppy etc.) and their
settings are as they should be - factory defaults. However, in
practice, there is something wrong, since the floppy does not work.
That, in turn, prevents me from loading a fresh firmware image to the
machine, since that would have to be done through the floppy drive!
