oops- i put the 'Subject' text in the 'Cc' heading last time.

thanx to: allen davis, dr.tom blinn, w mills, cyula szokoly, felix maurer.

the consensus is that the firmware floppy is in DOS format.
the update program runs under the ARC console which reads
DOS disks.

thanx to all!!

Subject: floppy mounting

i did search the archives-couldn't find what i was looking for.
a whiles back i created a bootable floppy with the v.5.2 firmware
upgrade on it. i thought i would check to see what was on the diskette
so i issued a #mount /dev/rfd0c /mnt command i got a response of:

/dev/rfd0c on /mnt: Block device required

so i tried
#mount /dev/fd0c /mnt instead and got:

/dev/fd0c on /mnt: No valid filesystem exists on this partition

not what i was expecting. i tried rfd0a fd0a, too. nada.
i didn't try mtools as the it's not a dos floppy.
