Well, I didn't get a single response to my original message :-( So I had
to dig around a little further, there's no mention of the ELSA video card
in the Open3d-4.9.3 release notes, which is kinda annoying seeing as this
is the so-called "Unix driver" that the DEQ site points you to.
It turns that specify something like the following in Xserver.conf does
the trick...
-vclass TrueColor -screen 1024x768
Sort of obvious, but not really well documented. I'm now getting 16bit
depth. Which is great!
