If you can send it back to the supplier, and get them to fix it, that's
great. For the times and programs that you cannot do that with, you might
want to try telling the X server to use DirectColor mode. You still need
to edit /usr/var/X11/Xserver.conf, but when you're done, you'll find that
most applications run in TrueColor mode, while the root window and those
applications that need it run in PseudoColor mode.
