Dear group,

The following situation popped up this morning and I am looking for any
insights you may have as to its origin and ways to correct it. One of our
line printers stopped printing, but continued queueing jobs. The lpc
status command yields:

# /usr/spool/lpd8>lpc status 8
8:
printer is on device '/dev/lat/628' speed 9600
        queuing is enabled
        printing is enabled
        1 entry in spool area
Wed Apr 21 12:49:49 1999: waiting for lock on 8

Aborting and restarting lpd had no effect. Any ideas are welcome.
