X applications crash under Tru64 4.0E

Hi

After upgrading a pw500au to Tru64 4.0E, and installing a new Compaq
XP1000 running Tru64 4.0E, we are finding certain X11 applications on
both machines crash at irregular intervals under CDE. For example,
xemacs (which works fine on all older Dunix versions) crashes from
time to time, particularly when changing to a virtual CDE workspace
that has the window running on it. The type of error given is:

xemacs: Fatal I/O Error 32 (Broken pipe) on display connection ":0.0"
after 198496 requests (198494 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

There are characteristics that make it less likely to happen, for
example, if another window, say a dtterm, is in front of the xemacs
window there is less chance the xemacs will crash.

Has anyone else observed this type of behaviour under Tru64 4.0E, and
can anyone suggest solutions/fixes. The global patch for 4.0E makes
no difference, similarly a recompilation under 4.0E also fails to
help.

Thanks
Andrew
