I am getting an error when trying to use the 4mm tape drive that came
with our Alpha 4000 (running DU4.0D). First of all it did not eject
the tape from our backup last night even tho the backup procedure
completed normally. The middle light on the tape unit is flashing
and the tape was not completly rewound before I hit the eject button.
I put in the cleaning tape and it did its thing for a couple of
minutes and ejected fine. I tried another tape but as soon as I did
the "mt -f /dev/nrmt0h online' command, it failed with the message
"/dev/nrmt0h online 1 failed: I/O error". My question is how can I
find out what it is really complaining about and is it Friday yet???
It feels like it.
