SUMMARY: Multi-tape tar archive problem

Original Problem:

A multi-volume tar archive cannot be restored on an existing 4100 using a
TZ88 tape drive, but CAN be restored on a "twin" machine (same O/S,
patches) using a TZ89.

But the big winner goes to Serguei Patchkovskii, who figured out that the
machine I was having the problem on seemed to be using GNU tar rather than
the standard tar that comes with Digital UNIX, and that GNU tar has a bug
that doesn't allow multi-volume archives to work.

Sure enough I found a rouge version of tar in /usr/local/bin which was
acting as the default version. Removing this fixed the problem!
