ESA10000 and RA7000 fix?

A while ago I described a problem where errors occurred on our ESA10000
and ADVFS noticed them before the raid software did, thus causing an ADVFS
panic. We've been pursuing this with Compaq, and it was determined the problem
was in the hsz70 - it wasn't responding correctly when errors occurred.
(I don't really have more detail than that). Compaq has been trying to find
a fix for about a month now, and they are working on testing that fix now.
It will be released as a firmware update, on or about May 15th. I know
a few people indicated they'd seen similar problems. If you have, you might
want to inquire about this update. We'll be applying it to all our ESA10000s
and RA7000s in hopes it makes them trustworthy again - at present we don't
dare use them in production.

sigh...
