Question on an out of date C compiler

The company I work for has a third party application which we are stuck
with for now. We are working toward an ODBC compliant application but
that will take some time.

When we loaded out 4.0E our application no longer would compile.
Talking to Compaq we find out that the C compiler that we need is no
longer on the TRU64 software CD. We needed to do a setld from the
Associated Products CD under alternative compilers.

My question is (crystal ball anyone), is this a sign that they will be
sun setting this compiler method or do they have so many that they
wanted to unclutter the TRU64 CD and they will support this compiler for
years to come?

I realize that no one can give a firm answer, but I was curious on what
has happened in the past so I can relax or start building the damn arc
before the rain starts falling.

Thanks
Norm Thomas
