Original Question:

I can clear it up by >doing a kill -1 joind PID. Unfortunately that is

seen this and/or found an answer >for why it happens?
It looks like this is a known problem with Macs and becoming an issue with
Win98 machines. Depending who is talking the blame either lies with the
dhcp server or the computer os company. Anyway, James Fitzgerald sent me a
thread to check out:

Dr Tom Blinn suggested reporting it to Compaq. I did and they said as he
did that v.40f will have an upgrade to join. He and Compaq support didn't
know if this problem was addressed in the upgrade. Compaq support
suggested contacting Join corp., which is where Compaq gets join from, to
see what they could tell me. I did so we'll see what happens from them.
Compaq support also suggested trying another dhcp server but of course
there is no guarantee that it won't have the same problem. I'll let you
know what I find out.
