Basically no one offered any suggestions on this one and I did find a
similar question about the same problem dated sometime in Jan. I emailed
him and he said that the problem was solved by re-running nfssetup. This
didn't work for me though. I had to take everything apart and just figure
it out. The main errors (listed for mailing list searches) were:
May 6 08:36:13 leviathan nfsd:[28430]: Can't register with portmap
May 6 08:36:13 leviathan mountd[1826]: couldn't register MOUNTPROG VERS1 TCP
May 6 08:36:13 leviathan pcnfsd[30031]: unable to register (PCNFSDPROG, PCNFSDVERS, udp).
May 6 08:36:13 leviathan lockd[1015]: rpc.lockd svc_register error for 100021, 1 (tcp)
May 6 08:40:05 leviathan mountd[3635]: couldn't register MOUNTPROG VERS1 TCP
May 6 08:40:15 leviathan mountd[2279]: couldn't register MOUNTPROG VERS1 TCP
May 6 08:42:10 leviathan nfsd:[28810]: Can't register with portmap
May 6 11:51:02 leviathan mountd[9686]: couldn't register MOUNTPROG VERS1 TCP
May 6 11:51:03 leviathan lockd[15739]: rpc.lockd svc_register error for 100021, 1 (tcp)
May 6 11:55:27 leviathan lockd[29073]: Can't create client handle to
leviathan.mtco.com STATv1: RPC: Program not registered
the commands to clean up the situation go kinda like this:
make sure nothing is already running and
touch /etc/rpc (I didn't have one)
/usr/sbin/portmap
/usr/sbin/nfsiod 7
/usr/sbin/nfsd -t8 -u8
/usr/sbin/mountd -i -n -d
/usr/sbin/rpc.lockd
Hopefully this can help someone else out. Thanks. andy
