Hi all,

This question follows on from my questions regarding disk
duplication....

I have this collection of Pw433au's that are all nominally the
same. Some are headless in a farm, some are desktop workstations.

I want to clone a workstation disk...

>>> sho dev on the farm machines gives...

dkc0.0.0.1004.0 DKC RZ1CB-BS 0818
pkc0.7.0.1004.0 PKC SCSI Bus ID7 5.27

wheras a workstation with 4D51T graphics gives....

dkc0.0.0.2004.0 DKC RZ1CB-BS 0818
pkc0.7.0.2004.0 PKC SCSI Bus ID7 5.27

... so I cannot swap a disk from a farm machine into a workstation
machine. If I put a 4D51T into a farm machine then the SCSI moves
from 1004 to 2004.

I figured that I could use another workstation to clone a workstation
disk so I looked at another workstation with a 4D51T and was a little
confused to see that it was using 1004.

Can anyone explain what these numbers are? What controls them?

TIA
