Hi all -
I have the task of porting an Annex server, used only for
authenticating dial-in users, from an Ultrix box (which is about to
disappear) to a new Tru64 box. The Annex software is a rather ancient
version, 9.2.7, and I'm not at all sure we have any maintenance that
would entitle us to anything newer :-(
I can get a clean compile quite easily (using SYS_V compile options),
but I am wondering about streamlining things a bit by using the main
system password database rather than a separate Annex password file
(the system is set to C2 security).
Has anyone done this? Is it a Really Bad Idea? (I am presuming that
it carries no more security hazard than any other daemon that can
verify usernames/passwords).
Thanks for any assistance.
Richard
