I'm back with more info.
A quick recap. I'm getting:
ld_mmap: could not malloc 51118343ld. bytes for /ora-home/app/oracle/product/8.05/lib//libnetwork.a(nauza.o)
file file_offset / flen -- pg bndry file offst -> last file offst mmapd
mmap usage info not available; max of 160. slots
ld_mmap: could not malloc 51118343ld. bytes for /ora-home/app/oracle/product/8.05/lib//libnetwork.a(nauza.o)
Fatal error in: /usr/lib/cmplrs/cc/ld IOT/Abort trap - core dumped
trying to install Oracle on a 512 Mb RAM AlphaServer 800, running
nothing else (all 1 Gb of swap is free.)
Several people (thank you!) have mentioned changing some kernel
parameters. I should have included mine in my original post, so here
goes:
ipc:
msg-mni = 1024
msg-tql = 4096
shm-max = 2118123520
proc:
max-proc-per-user = 1024
max-threads-per-user = 1024
max-per-proc-data-size = 534724608
max-per-proc-address-space = 534724608
per-proc-address-space = 534724608
per-proc-data-size = 534724608
rt:
aio-max-percent = 2
vm:
ubc-minpercent = 1
ubc-maxpercent = 2
vm-mapentries = 400
I've verified (by running 'limit') at the shell prompt that the memory
is available.
Neither Oracle nor Compaq have found a solution.
Please help!
