tcp wrappers 7.6

I built this and it works fine our the Sun box here, but the build does not
work on my alpha (4.0D).

I get the following (and only error - nonfatal):
        ar: Warning: creating librwrap.a
        ranlib: libwrap.a
        ranlib: No such file or directory
        Exit 1 (ignored)
The make completes and spits out the binaries, but they fail to work. Any
ideas?
