DJ-ML-200-xx PCI NVRAM must be Rev E01 for 4.0E Why?

Page 3-3 of the Release Notes for Tru64 Unix 4.0E & F says the above.
Does anyone know why? Compaq support just says "Must". Since I have a
Rev D01 board, I would appreciate further explanation.
