Unfortunately the answer is that the card is NOT supported.

Digital rarely supported random 3rd party add-on hardware
since we had more than enough work just to support our
own hardware. I've seen little to suggest that Compaq
will treat things any differently. If you have a 3rd
party piece of hardware you want to use, you should see
if the vendor can provide a driver.

Ask 3Com. Unless 3Com have written a driver for that card and deliver it
through their own channels of distribution, it's not supported. There is
no driver for that option in the standard Tru64 UNIX distribution, and in
addition, there is no driver for it in the console firmware, so you could
not use it, for example, to install the system over the network.

My experience with 3com cards on other platforms is that they're junk anyway.

devices and configurations are supported. These are accessible
from
http://www.digital.com/SPD/
The Tru64 UNIX SPD does not list the 3Com card as a supported
option.
