kernel debugging tools

Hello,

Well after some searching and looking around I have yet to find
what I am looking for -- unless of course "dbx" is the only
way to go...

Question -- What tools exist or what methods for viewing table
and kernel values? I am looking for something to examine the
ACTUAL table sizes as opposed to the "configured" max values
for various tables and memory structures used by the kernel.

This is for application debugging and tunning and to understand
what applications use in resources.

thanks
