Tru64 Unix Reliability

Hi!

We have an (now aged) AlphaServer 8200 5/300 which has 4 CPUs,
an underconfigured 512Mb memory and about 12 disk spindles.

While we have never had time to investigate the problem, our
Digital Unix 4.0d has proven to be rather unstable. Uptime is
1 or 2 weeks or so before we get a simple-lock panic on the console.

At one stage, someone had written a program which consistently
brought our machine down.

On the other hand, we have never encountered reliability problems
with single processor versions of Digital Unix.

Has anyone in Digital/Compaq land any thoughts on the reliability of
Digital (Tru64) Unix?

:)
