Digital DHCP Server comments

Just a brief comment on recent experiences setting up a DHCP
server for our department. Basically we wanted to just assign
IP addresses statically to our machines based on their MAC
addresses. I tried using Digital's DHCP server (joind) that comes
with version 4.0e of Tru64 Unix but never managed to get it to
work correctly despite spending several days trying. Following some
comments found on this list I downloaded the DHCP freeware software
from the Internet Software Consortium (www.isc.org) which we were able
to get up and running in less than half a day. It is certainly worth a
look if you find yourself in a similar situation.

Regards,
John Kissane.
