SUMMARY: nfs mounts & multiple IP addresses

My original question was relating to problems with nfs mounts in a
situation when the nfs client has multiple interfaces and IP-addresses.
Frequently - but not always - mount requests were rejected by the mountd
of the server with a "permission denied" message.

It turned out that installing the mountd of DU3.2 on the server side made
the problem disappear.

I also checked mountds of various other Digital Unix versions and found
that mountd does not work properly in 4.0d, 4.0d with all patches applied,
and 4.0e with all patches applied.

This problem has first been described by Guillaume Gerard in 1996
http://www.xray.mpe.mpg.de/mailing-lists/tru64-unix-managers/9610/msg00091.html
and apparently has not been fixed yet.

We will file in a problem report to Compaq.

Thanks to Dr.Tom Blinn for checking with DEC/Comapqs the NFS developers.
I recieved no other comments on this problem from the list.
