Original question:
Our college would like to implement a webmail solution similar to
"hotmail" or "yahoo mail" that runs on Digital Unix. The only
product we've looked at so far is Communigate Pro. Please let me
know about any successful Webmail applications that you are
using.
Here were the responses:
I just installed Endymion Mailman last week.
http://www.endymion.com/
I chose it because it's written in Perl and works with our relatively
vanilla (Solaris 2.5.1, Apache 1.3.3) web-server setup. It worked
straight out of the box, in a default kind of way. Recommended.
We are looking into this as well. I downloaded a perl version of a
free one from
http://www.econ.cbs.dk/web-mail.htm
named WWW-mail and I am looking into customizing it for our
needs (i.e. avoiding spoofing...)
I am working on implementing a freeware perl based program
called atdot. You can go to the web site:
http://www.atdot.org/software/atdot
While it is a "work in progress" it is a very good starting
point ... and works!
Check out imp at
http://www.horde.org/imp - its a Webbased IMAP
client thats written in PHP3. Works well and Im planning on
implimenting it here this summer.
