My Digital UNIX 4.0B server recently crashed and was rebuilt by
re-installing the Operating System followed by restoring the
filesystems.
However, printing has become a problem.
On sending jobs to the print queue via the lpr command,
the following error messages is displayed;
lpr: connect: No such file or directory
jobs queued, but cannot start daemon
However, printing is only successful on entering the
/usr/lbin/lpd command at the unix prompt.
All relevant files exist - i.e. /dev/printer, /usr/lbin/lpd
The /usr/lbin/lpd daemon is also always present.
(from the ps command)
Please assist
Thank You
