Thanks to
Jim Fitzmaurice <jpfitz_at_fnal.gov>
Wander <wander_at_cptec.inpe.br>
Marcos Casarrubios <marcos_at_calliope.cccfc.uam.es>
N.M.Hill_at_rl.ac.uk

But none of their advices works with Tru64-V4.0E where touching to hard
limits is reserved to superuser for sh or ksh users.

Problem has been submitted to Compaq support and I am waiting for their
answer.
