Dear Managers,

My original problem was:

----------------------
we have an 5-6 years old DEC3000/300.
The machine was out of work for long time but now it needs so I
installad DU 4.0d on it. The problem is:

when i log in locally (console) everything works, but:

I cannot log in from another machines: after typing password, telnet
seems to be hang (but every blindly typed command works without
any output).
This the same situation when I try to make ftp connection: i can log
in, i can send files but cannot retrieve anything. Finger doesn't show
anything too. The bad machine configured as a secondary dns. Running
nslookup on other machines cannot retrive anything, cannot run
X-sessions remotelly, etc...

Power-up test indicates an arror:
CXT: ?? 000 0054

Performing CXT test I got following message:
?? 00 CXT 0x0054
84 FAIL
---------------------
Thanks for Peter Stern <peter_at_chemphys.weizmann.ac.il> who wrote:

CXT is the graphics. The 000 fru indicates an unknown or diagnostic
test does not support fru reporting error. Since you got no further
message after the 0054, there probably is none. The suggestion for a
CXT error is to "Ensure proper connection of monitor cable. Ensure
proper seating of the CPU module. Re-execute CXT diagnostic to
verify." I'm afraid that's all I have.
---------------------

As shown my problem doesn't correlate to this error message.
Last autumn I installed previous version (4.0b) of DU and the system's
behaviour was the same, but I thought it had caused by
misconfiguration.
So I made a completly new installation (the disk was repartitioned)
but nothing has changed.
Firmaware version seems to be correct I've 2 more DEC3000/3000 with
same configuration (working well).

Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks in advance,

Best Regards,
