Hi
I got many replies to this, and three or four from Compaq staff members. If
only all of our suppliers were so quick... The most complete answer came from
Dr Blinn at Compaq, so I'll leave the last word to him.
Many thanks for your help
Regards
Richard

You should remove the old AdvFS utilities, update your entire system to V4.0D
if it's not already at V4.0D, and then install the AdvFS utilities for V4.0D.
It is VERY IMPORTANT to REMOVE the old AdvFS utilities BEFORE you update the
system to V4.0D.
If you have an older AdvFS utilities installed and you've already updated to
V4.0D, then you should NOT remove the old AdvFS utilities (with setld). In
that case, it's much safer to just (as root) cd into /usr/.smdb. and remove
the files that are associated with the AdvFS utilities (typically AFA*).
