Virtual Memory

Dear Manglers,

I have an Alpha 4100 running 4.0d patch#3.

The following is the output from ulimit -a

# ulimit -a
time(seconds) unlimited
file(blocks) unlimited
data(kbytes) 131072
stack(kbytes) 2048
memory(kbytes) 505712
coredump(blocks) unlimited
nofiles(descriptors) 4096
vmemory(kbytes) 1048576

This system has 512 Mb of Ram and 1.464 Gb of swap.

The main application is an ingres database. Lately, ingres has been
failing (I don't know what the problem is and I'm not an ingres
person), but the support company has said to increase the virtual
memory.

My question is this, other than adding more physical memory and swap,
how can I increase the amount of virtual memory declared.
