net card: Digital PCI to 100 BASE-TX (Fast Ethernet)
OS: Digital Unix 4.0C
firmware: V6.4-2 (1997)

My network adapter was probably broken.
Firware identify it as EWA0, but IP protocol do not work althought
nothing in configuration was changed.
There was a storm in my city and several PC's network cards stopped
work properly also.
I have tried install spare card, compatible with 100 BASE-TX mode
but produced by HP. Firmware do not recognize it. The card is brand
new so may be firware is out of date?
I have read in Firmware Update Procedures that V.7 should be
compatible with my OS. But do it help recognize new card?

Should I update firmware or better look for original Digital PCI
network adapter?
