Hi, folks.
If I had read the man(1) page all the way down to the bottom, I would have
seen that there are actually several options to the mount command when
speaking CD filesystems. I thought rrip was enough but root
[isidoro.sepe_at_tlsoft.it] Wolf Dieter Brandt however pointed out that
-o noversion
should be added, It sort of tells the computer notto show the version number
and it then says "Then I can show the mixed-case names as well".
And a little funny story:
I tried to mount the CD-ROM on my PC in order to make a tar archive and then
ftp the tar archive to the Unix machine. But the tar program (part of
Exceed) also displayed the filenames in upper case. This was not because
Exceed could not see the right names, because it showed the files of C:
perfectly correct. But Explorer DID show the CD correctly. So in Microsoft
it is possible to mounyt filesystems in such a way that applications
understand the filenames differently...
